A former Monroe County Judge will be sentenced in District Court Thursday in what prosecutors are calling a "sexual torture case."

According to a Michigan State Police investigation, former Monroe County 1st District Judge Jarod Calkins hired women for sex and transported them for that purpose.

Calkins was arraigned on March 9. Sentencing will take place in Monroe District Court at 9 a.m.

Upon investigation, MSP uncovered evidence that an individual matching Calkins' description was allegedly having women meet him at the hotel to engage in sexual activity for money.

According to the warrant, Calkins allegedly found his victims online; he used the name Michael Collins in accounts on Facebook, Tinder and OKCupid.

Calkins faces a felony charge that carries up to 20 years in prison, and a misdemeanor charge that carries up to 93 days in jail.
