DETROIT (WXYZ) — A freighter ran aground in the Detroit River on Thanksgiving Day and has since been refloated.
According to Marine Traffic, the freighter is the Robert S. Pierson, and it stopped this morning.
The United States Coast Guard said it was the Robert S. Pierson, a 629-foot self-discharging bulk carrier.
The United States Coast Guard said they received the initial report of the Robert S. Pierson running aground at 1:17 a.m.; the vessel reportedly was grounded around 10:35 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Robert S. Pierson was carrying 18,000 tons of stone and was en route from Windsor, Ontario, to Lorain, Ohio.
There were no reports of injuries or pollution, according to the Coast Guard.
Tug boats were seen helping the freighter get back on its way.
