Friends remember Javar Harrell, shot and killed during last week's protest in Detroit

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Victims of senseless violence are more than just statistics. They're someone's child, sibling and loved ones.

On Friday, May 29, during the protest in Detroit, 21-year-old Javar Harrell was murdered.

His killers are still on the street tonight and 7 Action News reporter Brian Abel is showing us how Harrell was overcoming the odds. A community leader taken too soon.

Detroit police are looking for persons of interest in the shooting, and say that it's unrelated to the protest that took place.
