DETROIT (WXYZ) — Mandy is caring, curious, social, and active. The 14-year-old who is currently in foster care in Michigan is in the eighth grade, and she hopes to be adopted soon.
“I want to go to Florida,” she said when asked where she’d like to visit.
She's sometimes goofy and likes to play around.
She has a great smile, and she smiles throughout conversations. She also enjoys talking on the phone with friends.
Some of Mandy's favorite things to do include spending time with friends and playing cards.
Mandy also considers herself to be a good student.
“I liked history -- not math -- social studies, science, and that's all,” she said when talking about school.
Mandy would love to have a forever family with which she could play cards and share meals.
“And I also want an adoption family that would accept me,” she said.
Her worker said she would do best with two parents, and that she would prefer to be the only child in her new family.
Mandi will benefit from parents who are strong advocates for the services that she needs.
“I would like to live in the city,” Mandi said dreaming of her future home.
She has a great sense of humor. She likes to have fun and really enjoys her time with other people, adults, and kids.
“Sometimes if I need help, I do get help,” said Mandi.
But one skill she’s mastered?
“I'm really good at making pancakes,” she said proudly.
Mandi is a terrific kid, and she'd be a benefit to any family. She’s been waiting to be adopted since June of 2020.
