DETROIT (WXYZ) — A dangerous eyesore was demolished by the city, and neighbors are celebrating a safer and more beautiful block near 809 Glinnan because of it.

“It was a constant problem, with arson fires and squatters,” says neighbor Monica LeFrenier. “The people were coming in and out of there at all hours of the day, and there was trash everywhere.”

We first heard from LeFrenier months ago and immediately got in touch with the land bank who owns the home.

We kept following up, and learned the home was recently added to the emergency demo list. Now that it’s gone, the community is expressing gratitude to their city for doing the work.

“We’re also grateful to 7 Action News for helping us keep it a priority for the city,” Monica said.

The city has some more ground to fill with dirt. They’re planning to have things all wrapped up within a few days. Anyone with blight issues is also urged to contact the land bank.
