Michigan Congresswoman Candice Miller says it’s time for established Republican leaders to fully endorse presidential candidate Donald Trump. Although the controversial New York billionaire was not Miller’s first choice, the representative of Michigan’s sprawling 10th District, believes Trump has earned the right to be the GOP nominee. Miller also told me that businessman Trump would be a better commander-in-chief for America than Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
She made her comments in a one-on-one conversation at the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Mackinac Policy Conference held annually at the historic Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. Currently serving her seventh term in Congress, Miller rides herd over a Southeast Michigan geographic area that stretches from Warren to Port Austin. Congresswoman Miller, a former Michigan Secretary of State, chairs the Committee on House Administration. She is the only female chair of a committee in the U.S. House of Representatives and also sits on the Homeland Security, Transportation and Infrastructure Committees.
Although Michigan usually votes blue in presidential elections, Miller said most UAW members she has talked to support Trump.
