The shooting happened along south Dixie Highway Monday around 5 p.m.

The trooper was dispatched to the area on the report of a suspicious man walking in the street with a knife and yelling at cars.

"He just kind of pulled in like to head him off, he didn’t come up on the grass or anything, and the guy freaked out," said Rob Johnson, with Groulx Automotive. He witnessed the whole ordeal.

"You could tell he was freaking out and he just whipped his Mountain Dew bottle at the police car," Johnson said. "Then that’s when the guy must of pulled something out and he was coming faster and then he shot him."

The man who was shot was taken to a nearby hospital. The incident is still under investigation.
