Once again, it’s time for Community Comments from our downtown studio here at the Qube. Michael Walsh reacted to our Mackinac Policy Conference editorial. He writes:
“We need to talk about law and order in Michigan. It’s time to talk about capital punishment.”
Well, that wasn’t on the agenda this year but maybe in the future.
One of the issues that was talked about on Mackinac Island was the idea bringing professional soccer to downtown Detroit. But David Malhalab sent us this e-mail message:
“The (Dan) Gilbert/(Tom) Gores soccer proposal is not realistic or feasible as presented.”
Thomas Wilson, Jr. made this comment about regional transit.
“I am excited about the buzz being generated by the Regional Transit Authority’s plan for Southeast Michigan and I am going to vote for the millage. I don’t this this is asking too much for residents of Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Washtenaw Counties.”
Our editorial on the Detroit Public Schools prompted this statement from Richard Filipiak.
“Well the insanity continues wasting Michigan dollars on DPS schools and students who don’t/won’t attend school. Fifty-eight percent of students regularly skip classes. So do you think the legislature should should deduct 58% of the $617 million just approved?”
And finally, this from Lucille Lancaster about the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix.
“Bless Roger Penske and all he and his team are doing to revitalize our Motor City!”
Amen to that, Ms. Lancaster! Thanks for writing and watching.
