Community Comment: Q-Line, John Kelly & Freedom of Information Act

Once again, it’s time hear your comments about our Channel 7 Editorials.  Our station position praising the arrival of the first Q-Line, M-1 Rail car prompted this reaction from Robert Douglas.

“Finally, Detroit is moving in the right direction!  Until we provide more modern transportation options to residents in this area, we cannot call ourselves a world class city.”

But Cynthia Shea offered a different point-of-view:

“What is the M-1 Rail and the new RTA Plan going to cost those of us who are on a fixed income?  We can’t afford the increase in taxes or transit ride fare.”

Our Editorial farewell to former WXYZ newsman and TV show host John Kelly triggered this response from Alberta Johnson.  She writes:

“I used to start every morning with John and Marilyn on Kelly & Co.  Those were the good old days of local television.  John gave us enough smiles and laughter to last us a lifetime.  Thank you, John!”

Our Editorial urging the Michigan Senate to follow the State House’s lead in amending the Freedom of Information Act to all branches of state government prompted this tweet from legislation co-sponsor Representative Jeremy Moss of Southfield.

“Thank you WXYZ Detroit for supporting our efforts to bring transparency to our state government!  Let’s hope our Senate colleagues act on it.”  Let’s hope, indeed!

But Patrick Flannery sent us this word of caution:

“Let’s see if the governor signs it or vetoes it.  I’m betting on a veto.”

Thanks it for now.  Thanks for writing and watching.
