Once again, it’s time for our Community Comments. John McDermott of Hazel Park, sent us this message.
“Thank you for your editorial…supporting Representatives (Ed) McBroom and (Jeremy) Moss’ bill to amend Michigan’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to include the Governor and Legislature. The…ranking of Michigan as 50th out of 50 in transparency is disturbing.”
Several viewers responded to our station editorials about the importance of voting and Election Day results. Grace Englehart of Rockford scolded those who thought about not voting. She said:
“So their personalities don’t please you. Let’s forget that. Their ideas are what is going to run the government. Put both candidates’ ideas on paper and compare them.”
But Christopher Currie of Detroit sees the issue differently. He writes:
“I’ve voted in every local, state and national election since I was 18 years old, over 20 years ago. I don’t regret voting but increasingly I’m questioning whether it has the impact that I want it to have. The…philosophies of our public officials have to drastically change. “
Mark Jones said:
Supreme power is vested in lobbyist, corporations and corrupt lawmakers though a system of legalized bribery. We may vote for them, but corporations own them!! And the media are greedy corporations too!!”
And, on a much more upbeat note, Virginia Calloway sent us this message about downtown Detroit Christmas tree lighting editorial.
“Kudos to Channel 7 for broadcasting this winter holiday tradition in our city. Campus Martius circle and our beautifully decorated tree looks magnificent! New York’s Rockefeller Center tree has nothing on us.”
That’s it for now. Thanks for writing and watching. I’m Chuck Stokes.
