WXYZ Detroit -
Tuesday, November 28th, kicks off the charitable season. That’s when many will devote special attention to their holiday and end-of-year giving. Powered by social media, hashtag - Giving Tuesday has become a global day of donating to your favorite charitable causes. It’s also one of the easiest and best ways to get involved in your own community.
Fortunately, economic confidence in America is up and the unemployment rate is down. But the need here in Michigan and across the nation is still great. There’s still too much poverty and homelessness and too many working people, seniors, single parents and college students are having trouble making ends meet in the richest nation in the world. A lot of local agencies and non-profits are facing a challenge keeping up with the growing demand.
But this city, state and nation have a rich history of giving. We are a diverse society that works together to overcome obstacles and make life better for countless individuals.
So this hashtag-Tuesday, we urge you to take the time to give back. A donation of your time or money – big or small – can make a big difference during this charitable and holiday season. It’s ACTION that will bring a smile to your face and many others.
