This may be the most contentious and exciting presidential race in modern history. And on Tuesday, March 8, Michiganders will get their first chance to vote for America's next commander-in-chief. The Michigan Presidential Primary is a contest to win national convention delegates. But before then, the Republican and Democratic candidates will come to Detroit and Flint to debate. Why? Because Michigan matters!
Here's our advice to the men and women running for the most powerful office in the world. Spare us your political mudslinging and character attacks! This is Michigan, the epicenter of many of the most important issues facing our nation. We want to hear your plans for keeping the economy and our auto industry healthy. How will you address America's aging infrastructure? What policies will you pursue to help businesses in urban and rural areas grow?
We are home to some of the world's best universities. What will you do to make sure students from all backgrounds can afford to attend them? We are one of America's most ethnically diverse areas.
How will you realistically deal with immigration? What's your plan for keeping Americans safe and healthy? And how will your policies protect our environment?
Candidates, we welcome you to the Great Lakes State. But remember, with a total of 207 delegates up for grabs, Michigan is an important stop on the road to the White House. Voters, get involved and be prepared to cast your ballot on March 8th!
