A high-speed crash took one man’s life and shut down I-94 for hours Labor Day morning in Detroit.

Now Michigan State Police say they are searching for three people who not only ran from the car that caused the crash, but left a person with them behind to die.

It happened just after two in the morning on I-94 westbound near West Grand Boulevard.

Police say a Dodge Charger speeding at more than 100 miles per hour slammed into an SUV.  The impact caused that SUV to catch fire.

Somehow, the people inside the SUV managed to get out and were not hurt.

The Charger rolled, ejecting one man who died instantly. Three other people in that car, however, not only survived but were able to run from the car leaving their companion’s body behind.

Michigan State Police sent information on the crash out on twitter. A tweet said, “A K9 track was unsuccessful. Troopers are working on identifying those occupants and identifying the driver.”

Police say the Charger was not stolen and they are following leads as they search for those people who took off from the fatal crash. If you know who they are, you are asked to call Michigan State Police.
