One Detroit neighborhood is getting a major facelift and it’s being touted as the city’s largest residential development in decades.

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and Quicken Loans Founder Dan Gilbert held a news conference at 1 p.m. to talk about the project.

The facelift will happen to a block in the Brush Park neighborhood at the corner of Alfred Street and John R.

It will focus on a six-building apartment community with mixed-use spaces including more than 20,000 square feet of of ground-floor retail space.

The ground-floor retail space we’ve learned will be filled with restaurants, shopping and convenience stores for the people living in the community.

The development being called "City Modern" is a $70-million project being build on more than eight acres in the shadows of Comerica Park in the Midtown neighborhood.

When finished, it will boast more than 400 residential units including townhomes, duplexes and apartments.
