DETROIT (WXYZ) — Kelvin Walton was watching TV in his home on 3 Mile Road near Mack on Detroit's east side when he and other relatives heard multiple gunshots.

"It was bullets going over my head," said Walton as he stood feet away from bullets holes in a front window. "I couldn't do anything but lay down."

When the shooting stopped, Kelvin says his 15-year-old grandson struggled to walk out of the bedroom where he'd been playing video games before collapsing.

Kelvin said his grandson had been shot multiple times in his pelvic and leg area. The teen was rushed to a local hospital where police said his condition was critical.

The gunshots penetrated all four sides of the home and at least one bullet hit a neighbor's house.

Detectives with DPD's 5th Precinct are continuing to investigate.
