Woman has purse stolen following car crash

Posted

A roadside robbery left an elderly woman broken down and penniless. She was the target of purse-snatchers who posed as Good Samaritans.

For Sallie Thornton there's a surreal feeling of being victimized twice in one night - beginning with someone crashing into her Ford Taurus at Chippewa and Pinehurst.

From there it got worse, the driver who was responsible took off.

Next, 4 guys from another car got out pretending to help. But a witness watched as the thieves instead helped themselves to sally's purse.

The criminals got away with her money, credit cards, her id and keys. They've also robbed this life long Detroiter of her sense of safety.

Sallie got a ride home at about 7:30 pm and now has to change her locks.

Right now, police are looking for 2 white Monte Carlos and those suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call Detroit Police.
