The state’s attorney general is shutting down a Detroit abortion clinic.
Today, patients learned the reason for the action.
It is called the Summit Women's Center on West McNichols.
Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette's office just filed a lawsuit to shut it down. The AG is claiming this place has been operating illegally for a year - specifically stating the current owner isn't licensed to have abortion procedures performed.
He purchased the place from a doctor who was licensed.
So far this is a civil suit. However the state also alleges they misrepresented to patients that this clinic was professionally licensed.
So far there have been no arrests, but the state's investigation into this place is still underway.
