If you're headed to Thursday Night Football in Detroit - you'll want to leave early. The Lions play the Green Bay Packers tonight at Ford Field and fans can expect to see extra security.
Security, in the wake of recent mass shooting events, has been tightened at the stadium and guards will need extra time to perform all duties in checking each person who enters Ford Field. This means longer lines for fans waiting outside of the stadium.
Detroit police will be joined by Michigan State Police, K9 units from Wayne State University and undercover federal agents at the game.
As a reminder, fans are encouraged not to bring any type of bags to the game.
The only bags permitted into the stadium are bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12."
Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap, may be carried into the stadium. An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at the entry gate.
