A major investment in Warren is coming with plenty of controversy.
The city approved plans to spend $53 million to prevent another flooding disaster like what we saw after severe rains in 2014.
That substantial rainfall crippled the city. Now, citizens are sounding off over the expensive fix.
The massive flood left warren and surrounding areas soaking in water.
It became painfully obvious that infrastructure had broken down, destroying parts of people's homes and causing outrage.
Now this announcement from the city:
"We're about to spend a lot of money on large public improvement to aim at reducing basement flooding in Warren for all residents."
The $53 million will raised in the form of bonds, thanks to city council approval.
Not everyone on council is happy about it though.
Citizens will eventually see higher water bills, but the amount and timing is still unknown.
Warren leaders who support the upgrades to their system tell us the money will be well spent.
In just the next twi weeks, they'll be taking steps to purchase a facility where millions of gallons of water can be held.
Expansion of sewers is also a critical part of the fix.
