Their daughter was gunned down in a horrific murder-suicide. Now, family members are speaking out for the first time with an urgent message.

It involves a personal protection order that failed to keep her safe from an ex-boyfriend with a history of violence.

Loved ones of 21-year-old Grand Valley State University senior Rosemarie Reilly tell us each day the nightmare continues.

"Losing my sister gets worse every day, she was my best friend," says sister Jennifer Reilly.

Jennifer recalls how ex-boyfriend Jeremy Kelley stalked her sister and physically attacked her. The situation escalated to the point of her getting a personal protection order.

After their breakup in late August, police say Kelley shot and killed Rosemarie in the early morning of November 6th, at a friends apartment in Grand Rapids.

He then turned the gun on himself, as he had threatened to do numerous times.

Rosemarie was well on her way to a career in nursing and died just five days shy of her 22nd birthday.

Now, her sister and her parents are left to wonder why no one took Kelley's guns away or arrested him.

So far, Grand Rapids police have declined to comment for our story.
