Muslim Americans in Bloomfield Township are at odds with some neighbors over a parking proposal at their mosque.
In a new viral video you can see a long line of cars backed up on Square Lake Road. All the traffic is due to a lack of parking at the Muslim Unity Center - a place many come to worship, learn and even exercise.
Since 1993, the mosque has grown so popular there simply isn't enough parking.
Member Amal Rass tells me she understands the frustration of some neighbors who see nearby streets packed with parked cars during busy events.
A group of citizens posted the video online, claiming ordinances are also being violated. Some even oppose a brand new proposal to let the mosque add 100 parking spots to their lot.
But tonight no one we talked to shared that view.
Next Monday, the township board will review the plan to expand the lot. We'll be at the meeting to bring you the latest.
