ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Police are investigating an incident where holes were drilled into gas tanks of vehicles in Rochester Hills.

Deputies responded to the Rochester Hills Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge Ram dealership located in the 1300 block of Rochester Road. A citizen told the Rochester Hills Fire Department that he had been walking his dog and smelled a strong odor of gasoline.

While firefighters were checking the area, they discovered that gasoline had been leaking from three 2019 RAM pick-up trucks that had been parked in a lot behind Dick's Sporting Goods. Police say holes had been drilled into the gas tanks of each of the vehicles and gas was leaking onto the ground. While checking other vehicles, a hand-drill and gasoline can were recovered. A fourth vehicle looked like it was tampered with, but there were no holes in the gas tank, police say.

The pick-up trucks are part of the new sales stock currently owned by the dealership.

Detectives will continue the investigation.
