ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WXYZ) — They came to town to watch a loved one play in the Michigan Football home opener last weekend.

Joella Edwards brought her daughter, son and granddaughter and they checked into the Wyndham Hotel in Ann Arbor on Friday. They enjoyed the game and watched John Baty, #41, who is a senior for Michigan.

They also say they had a storm of trouble all weekend.

First, they had clogged drains in the sink and bathtub. The TV didn’t work, and room keys didn’t work. When they complained they were moved but still had trouble in the second room.

Her daughter is Ella Soto-Edwards and they came here on a budget using her debit card.

They say her card was used to place charges amounting to triple what the room would have cost. They provided Action News a bank statement showing the posts. It locked up her card. When they wanted to stay longer on Labor Day they say they were tossed out.

They live in Hilton Head, South Carolina where Hurricane Dorian was headed. That area can get hit with winds and storm surge and it would be evacuated. They’ve been hit before with a tree falling on their home.

They say the people at Sonesta Suites in Ann Arbor are helping them with a room for the week. They are staying through the weekend to wait out the storm and the damage and watch the next game.

They are getting no answers from Wyndham Hotel in Ann Arbor and from the corporate office. Action News also tried and have gotten no response on either the local or corporate level.

This family wants others to know about the rude treatment they’ve gotten.
