(WXYZ) — The TCF Center plans to resume large live events in June, a big step forward in the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

General Manager Karen Totaro is joining us to talk about it in tonight's 7 UpFront segment.

You can see the full interview in the video player above.

"Like many of the large convention centers across the country, we kind of shifted our focus from event planning and implementation to almost more of a civic center-minded role, so we've really been providing support services for the community, especially southeast Michigan. We're so proud of that," Totaro says. "In terms of preparation, the two big focuses have been environmental hygiene, we just got our GVAC certification, which really ensures we're doing best practices to ensure that the building is cleaned and sanitized appropriately, and we've also been developing a custom hybrid platform so that shows can do part of their event virtually and they feel like they're still at the convention center, it shows our spaces basically as a floor plan. So those are kind of the two big focuses."
