Victims in deadly wrong-way crash on I-275 identified as engaged couple

The two victims who were hit and killed by a wrong-way driver on I-275 Tuesday morning have been identified as an engaged couple from Wayne.

According to the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office, they were identified as Nicholas Pare and Shannon McIntyre.

The pair were driving on I-275 near Michigan Ave. on Tuesday morning when an SUV driving on the wrong side of the highway crashed head-on into them.

The wrong-way driver is a 59-year-old man from Wolverine Lake. Multiple sources have told 7 Action News the driver is a member of the Wolverine Lake council. He was injured in the crash.

Open intoxicants were found in the wrong-way driver's vehicle.
