Police say the suspected shooter ran from the scene but was later taken into custody.

Police believe Hutchinson, a husband and father, was approached by the shooter shortly after leaving his shop Hutch's Jewelry.

They say he was shot multiple times inside his car.

Officers say they performed CPR on the scene and then transported Hutchinson to the hospital. He did not survive his injuries.

The Oak Park Public Safety Department says Hutchinson's wife was also in the car when the shooter pulled alongside them on a motorbike and opened fire. She was not harmed.

Hutchinson is known for his high-profile clients in metro Detroit and beyond. The popular jeweler has more than 300,000 followers on Instagram. His most recent picture was posted on Wednesday.

“When I heard what happened to Hutch, it was sad for me,” neighbor Ethan McGee said.

Police plan to turn over information to the prosecutor Friday morning, and an arraignment could take place around noon.

“All points of our investigation lead us to this was not a random event. He was targeted,” Oak Park police Lt. Marlon Benson said.
