DETROIT (WXYZ) — A 32-year-old woman is listed in critical condition after she was shot by an intruder inside a home on Auburn Street near Paul Avenue on Detroit's west side.
Police said the front door may have been unlocked and that's how the intruder entered the home around 3:30 Tuesday morning.
The victim was able to tell officers that the man was wearing a black ski mask and after shooting her, he fled back out the front door.
There are no steps or even a porch leading up to that door.
Police are trying to determine a motive and said it does not appear that anything was stolen.
A man who was at the house Tuesday afternoon told 7 Action News that the victim is a friend who had only been at the house for a few hours before the shooting. He said his friend did not have a dispute with anyone and he couldn't think of why anyone would want to harm her.
The man said a police officer told him that the crime may be connected to a similar shooting that took place in the area last night.
