DETROIT (WXYZ) — A horrific crash has claimed the life of a woman on Detroit’s east side, and witnesses say it could have been caused by “Road Rage.”

Police spent hours investigating the scene, located along Nevada south of Packard.

Just after 2:30 pm, Detroit Police say the driver of a red colored Dodge Ram pickup truck sideswiped a woman in a black Ford. She then lost control, striking a pole that came down onto her car.

The 59-year-old woman became trapped as flames engulfed her vehicle, and she died as a result.

Police say the driver suspected of causing the crash was injured but survived. He’s currently at a local hospital, but his condition is not being released.

Police are still interested in talking with anyone else who may have witnessed what happened.

So far, they are not releasing the names of the victim or suspect.
