WXYZ DETROIT — The Memorial Day weekend is a signal that summertime enjoyment is right around the corner. And no matter where you live, the downtown Detroit parks will have plenty on tap this year to add to your quality of life.

Under the leadership of Downtown Detroit Partnership CEO Eric Larson, the DDP staff has been working hard to transform the city’s residential and business communities. With nearly a century of experience under its belt, the organization knows how to make award-winning spaces for citizens to enjoy. Every year, the programming seems to get bigger and better. The line-up for 2019 is action-packed! There are many free activities and events for people of all ages. Some of the crowd favorites include the beach parties and first-class movies at Campus Martius Park along with a wide variety of popular food trucks.

From art exhibits to jazz concerts to recreational sports, Detroit’s five downtown parks combined with the Woodward Esplanade, will give residents and visitors plenty to do from May through September. No wonder more than two million people were attracted to the downtown parks and spaces last year. Channel 7 is proud to be a sponsor of the 2019 summer in the parks program. Detroit’s downtown parks are a beautiful backdrop and friendly neighbor to our street-side studio on the Campus Martius circle.

We encourage everyone in Southeast Michigan to experience downtown Detroit this summer. Take in the new and old restaurants, enjoy our professional sports venues and relax in the parks. Together, it makes the Motor City the heart of this region. For a full line-up of the downtown summer park schedule, visit our website at WXYZ.com.
