(WXYZ) — Challenger Karen McDonald has beat Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper in the Democratic primary, with 83% of precincts reporting.
McDonald led Cooper with 66% of the vote.
Republican attorney Lin Goetz, running unopposed, won the Republican primary and will face off with McDonald for the general election in November.
McDonald received endorsements from state Democratic leaders, including Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist and Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.
