Democrat Dave Coulter wins race for Oakland County Executive

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. (WXYZ) — Dave Coulter, a Democrat who is the interim Oakland County Executive, has won the race for executive and will continue to serve for the next four years.

Coulter beat former Republican State Sen. Mike Kowall in the race to replace the late L. Brooks Patterson with 56% of the vote.

In August, Coulter was appointed to fill Patterson’s seat by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners. He’s the former mayor of Ferndale.

In the primary, he beat out Oakland County Treasurer Andy Meisner in the race for the Democratic nominee.

Coulter was also elected to fill the remainder of the term which expires on Dec. 31.
