Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin wins 2nd term in Congress

(WXYZ) — Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin has won her second term in Congress, beating Republican Paul Junge and Libertarian Joe Hartman.

Slotkin upset incumbent Republican Mike Bishop in 2018 and flipped one of two Michigan congressional seats blue, helping Democrats regain control of Congress in 2018.

The 8th district represents Ingham County, Livingston County and portions of Oakland County.

Slotkin, who is from Holly, worked in the CIA and served in Iraq under President George W. Bush and then worked in the Defense Department under President Barack Obama.

She had run on a platform that focused on healthcare, supporting the middle class and integrity in politics.
