(WXYZ) — The Michigan primary is scheduled for Aug. 4 ahead of the general election on Nov. 3.

The Michigan Department of State said there have been more than 1.6 million absentee ballots sent to voters ahead of the Aug. 4 state primary.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson announced she would send absentee ballot applications to all registered voters in Michigan.
Voters are encouraged to take their ballots to the clerk or a designated drop box in order to make sure they're counted.
