(WXYZ) — Two oversight committees in the Michigan Senate and House are looking into allegations of fraud in the Michigan election.
But today, U.S. Attorney General William Barr issued a statement that there is no widespread fraud that would turn the election. Joe Biden beat President Trump nationwide and won in Michigan by more than 150,000 votes.
The Senate Oversight Committee took testimony from several people who said they witnessed problems inside Detroit’s TCF Center where the vote was being counted. The testimony focused on ballots, computers and what is called the chain of evidence they say was compromised and needs to be investigated further.
Former State Senator Patrick Colbeck testified he was at TFC as a challenger and outlined issues he witnessed, but when questioned by committee members he said the burden of proof is on clerks and canvassers to address the alleged fraud.
Several people who testified said they were escorted out of the ballot counting area and could not see what was happening.
Democratic State Senator Jeff Irwin of Ann Arbor questioned why President Trump is not requesting a full recount saying there is no fraud, just “smoke and mirrors”.
Another TCF challenger said he analyzed 30,000 ballots and found 229 dead people voted. He was asked by Republican State Senator Pete Lucico if he turned over his evidence to law enforcement. Senator Lucido said the committee is not a court of law and they don’t wear black robes.
Ludico will become Macomb County Prosecutor next month.
A House Oversight Committee is set for another hearing on Wednesday in Lansing and Trump Attorney Rudy Giuliani is scheduled to testify.
