DETROIT (WXYZ) — JuJuan Parks, the man charged in the shooting death of Detroit Police officer Rasheen McClain in November, will be in court for a probable cause conference on Friday.
The hearing is to determine if Parks is competent to stand trial.

The 28-year-old was charged on Dec. with one count of First Degree-Premeditated Murder and in the alternative First Degree Murder of a Police Officer, three counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer Causing Death, Discharge of a Weapon in a Building Causing Death, Discharge of a Weapon in a Building Causing Serious Impairment, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and eight counts of Felony Firearm Second Offense.
Parks is also a suspect in a number of other shootings, including the murders of Nathaniel Loyd and Dontez Calhoun.
7 Action News has learned that Parks was first incarcerated in 2011 on an assault case. He was paroled in December 2015, but returned to prison six months later for violating parole by assaulting a woman.
State officials tell 7 Action News that the victim in the assault case refused to testify, but police officers did and Parks was sent back to prison.
Parks was paroled again in July 2019 after state officials said he showed remorse, took responsibility for his crimes, and completed the required programming.
Then in late October, Parks was named as the shooter in a drive-by shooting at a house on Wyoming on Detroit's west side.
Police Chief James Craig has gone on record saying Parks was not arrested after that shooting because it appears there was no proper follow up by investigators at the 12th Precinct.
Parks was still not arrested when he reported to his parole officer on Nov. 7 where his drug test was negative.
Then, just over a week later, Parks allegedly went on a murderous rampage, targeting some of his friends. Sources say he was shooting them because a woman he was interested in claimed his friends mistreated her, but the same sources say the woman had lied.
Parks allegedly shot four men, killing two of them, Nathaniel Loyd and Christian Calhoun. A third victim was shot in a case of mistaken identity, according to sources.
A couple days later is when Parks would have his deadly encounter with police. It happened at a house on Wyoming - the same house he allegedly shot up in late October.
Officer McClain and three other officers were responding to a report of a home invasion. Police say Parks cut out the lights in the house to lure officers to the basement where he allegedly opened fire on the officers, killing McClain.
Parks was shot in the arm in a shootout with police. He tried to escape but was caught a few houses away.
While bond has been denied in the case of the murder of Officer McClain, Parks will remain with the Michigan Department of Corrections on a parole violation.
Parks will be transported back and forth from Jackson to Detroit for his appearances on the case.
