WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) — Warren police continue to investigate a hit and run along Schoenherr near Julius.
It happened around 10:10 pm on Wednesday.
Police have identified the victim as 55-year-old Peter Chisholm.
They say he was hit and dragged for a mile before being hit a second time.
The driver of the second car did stop and call police, but the first driver did not.
Based on a witness description, police believe the hit and run driver was behind the wheel of a red or burgundy Chrysler Sebring.
Police say Chisholm lived in a group home in Warren, not far from where he was hit.
Cynthia Novoselsky lives there and says she just met Chisholm a few days ago.
"He was just a wonderful person, very respectful, easy to get along with," she says.
Investigators are working to track down surveillance video. Meanwhile, Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer has this message for the hit and run driver:
"You might as well come in now and tell your side of the story. It's to your benefit to come in. If you don't come in, we're gonna come out and get you anyways. You're going to be identified," says Commissioner Dwyer.
Novoselsky agrees and says, "Come forward. Have a conscience. This is a human being we're talking about."
