DETROIT (WXYZ) — "You can increase the police, but you can't change the mentality of these people," said Delvon Hill about the two people responsible for shootings four people very early Monday morning in downtown Detroit.

Detroit Police arrested a 34-year-old man they said shot a 20-year-old man on Woodward near Adams around 1:30 am. The suspected shooter was apprehended after he crashed the car he was driving into another vehicle.

And earlier, around midnight, police say three men were shot in Greektown near the corner of Beaubien and Monroe. The victims, ages 23, 24, and 32, said they heard gunshots in the crowd before they began running and then realizing they had been shot.

Art Kesto, owner of Athens Liquor store on Beaubien, said he can sum up some weekends and nights in a single word. "Chaos."

Kesto believes there are often too many events scheduled around the same time, leading to a lot of people in concentrated areas with the potential for problems.

And Sunday night, after observing large crowds of rowdy people who had been drinking, Kesto said he could tell trouble was bound to erupt. So, instead of closing his store at midnight, he closed at 9:30 and went home. Then when midnight came, the three men were shot.

Detroit Police are still searching for the shooter in that case.
