WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Warren Police Department has arrested three suspects believed to be responsible for at least 20 home invasions over the last few months.
Police say 10 of the home invasions were in the northeast area of the city of Warren and surrounding cities, including Fraser and Roseville.
The suspects allegedly targeted the homes of seniors. Police say the suspects would conduct surveillance to determine when seniors would leave homes. More than 200 pieces of jewelry were recovered.
The suspects were arrested on May 29 at 3 p.m. at a residence in Warren after a 15-year-old girl called 911. Police say the suspects saw her grandparents leave her home and thought it was empty. They broke in and she hid in the basement and called for help.
Within minutes of that call, police were at the house and arrested the suspects. The teen is being praised for her actions and how calm she was through it all.
The teen's father, Brian Conner, said, "As you can imagine, she was extremely scared. She knew the first thing to do was call 911. Within 5 minutes we had at least 20 officers at our home. That's exactly what you want. We are more than thankful."
On May 30, police say five search warrants were executed by 20 members of the Investigative Services Bureau. Property taken in several home invasions was recovered in the searches.
The suspects are Carlton Ashford, Cedrick Ashford and Dejhan Marshall. Police say they're all from Detroit. They've been charged with home invasion, conspiracy to commit home invasion and resisting and obstructing a police officer.
Below are some of the items that they recovered. Police are still working on finding the rightful owners of the recovered jewelry.
