CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — With the holiday shopping season nearing, one mall is filling up some of their vacant shops.
The Mall at Partridge Creek in Clinton Township lost their last anchor store earlier this year. While they look for new tenants there and in the spot where Carson’s once stood, they have be moving in new names in other parts of the mall.
You can hear the sounds of crews getting ready to open a new store. Two new stores plus a restaurant and entertainment spot are all opening soon.
Lululemon has had a pop-up shop for some time and will now open a more permanent store next week, thanks to happy shoppers.
“Had such a great reaction to them and love their merchandise,” said Melissa Morang, mall’s General Manager.
American Eagle and Aerie will be opening up in December.
Next door to them, Detroit Axe will also open early next month.
In January, Partridge Creek will welcome a burger/sushi restaurant Cale’s Burger Fin.
“To have a new concept for this area, it’s great for the local market.”
But the anchor stores where Carson’s and Nordstrom once stood still remain vacant.
“We want to fill those spaces with something that’s just right for our customers.”
Some shoppers we spoke with said they wanted to see a Macy’s in the vacant spots.
For now, the old Carson’s vacancy will be used as a ‘do-it-yourself’ wrapping station during the holidays.
“And on the weekends we have charities out here wrapping the gifts for you and you can provide a donation to them.”
There are also holiday events coming up.
The Mall at Partridge Creek has about 85 retailers and restaurants.
“So much different then the regular shopping center being a lifestyle, open-air center like this it just really creates an ambience for your entire family including your fur babies.”
