Police searching for suspicious driver who followed 11-year-old

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — Shelby Township police need your help finding a suspicious driver who police say was following an 11-year-old girl.

As you can image the girl’s mother is shaken. She says she’s just glad nothing serious happened and her daughter knew exactly what to do in that very serious situation.

“She was just trying to get away I think she kind of froze up when it happened,” says the woman, who did want us to use her name.

Shelby Township police are looking for a suspicious driver we who reportedly followed an 11-year-old girl on May 27 on Glen Pointe Drive near 21 Mile and Schoenherr Road.

“It was kind of, a she would go slower or he would slow down, like he was playing the mouse and goose chase,” she says.

Police say the 11-year-old was riding her bike when the driver stopped in front of her, got out of the vehicle, and shook the handlebars until she fell off.

“The bike fell on top of her. She got some scraps on one side of her leg, and then they made eye contact and he got back in the car and fled away,” she says. “He never said a word.”

Officers say the vehicle appears to be a 2003 custom Dodge Ram van with three chrome wheels and on the front passenger side, a dark rally type wheel.

“He has been spotted in Barrister Lakes subdivision and Buckingham Glenn. There were other snap shots and footage from Ring cameras in those neighborhoods to,” she says.

The driver is described as a 55-year-old male with a thin build and grey facial stubble.

The girl’s mother says she’s thankful her daughter is okay.

“She a little anxious. She’s already a little anxious this feed into that a bit,” she says.
