CANTON, Mich. (WXYZ) — "I could have been killed if it fell on my head," said Hassen Fawaz about the large landscaping brick that came crashing through a living room window over his head. "Someone is trying to hurt somebody."

And surveillance video shows how it happened last week just before midnight on Westfield Circle near Haggerty in Canton.

A man is seen running into their front yard and hurling a large landscaping brick at the home Fawaz shares with his wife.

"He hurls it like a javelin," Fawaz told 7 Action News.

Fawaz was sitting on his couch on the other side of the window that shattered. Shattered glass landed on top of Fawaz, the couch, side table, and floor nd the brick gouged out parts of the coffee table when it landed under it.

Canton Police believe Fawaz was targeted. The question is why?

Fawaz says he's outspoken about his politics on Facebook, but he suspects the motive involves his role as president of his neighborhood's homeowner association. And he says his efforts to tidy up the neighborhood and keep things in order may have upset some people.

Fawaz is just hoping someone can identify the person responsible before someone gets hurt. And Fawaz believes it was a premeditated attack because, after hurling the brick, the man runs to a car parked just down the street.

Anyone with any information is urged to call Canton Police at 734-394-5400.
