It's been almost six years since the small town of Yale in St. Clair County was stunned to learn of a brutal attack on Paul and Mara Skinner.
Two men stabbed both of them repeatedly in their home.
Paul managed to chase the attackers out of the house - but passed away moments later.
The Skinner's daughter orchestrated the attacks - all because she was upset that her parents didn't approve of her boyfriend. The horror of that day will never go away.
But these days, Mara is working to move forward with her life by helping others and honoring her late husband.
Mara and Sheryl Eckert joined 7 Action News this morning to promote the P.S. You're My Hero Run/Walk in honor of Paul and all of the heroes around us.
