A convicted rapist cuts his court ordered tether and takes off, putting him at the top of the U.S. Marshals most wanted list.

Lajuan Jemison knows he’s wanted by police and he’s doing everything he can to avoid being captured.

Now the Marshals are asking for your help.

“We’ve been hitting the streets trying to find this guy all week,” Deputy U.S. Marshal Aaron Garcia said.

Lajuan Jemison has been on the run since earlier this month when a jury found him guilty of raping a woman in 2009.

“Right before he was supposed to show up for the verdict the jury comes back with a guilty verdict … he’s nowhere to be found,” Garcia said.

Garcia took us to the area Jemison has been spotted.

“East side of Detroit, this is where he hangs Bewick and Mack,” Garcia said.  “These are his corners we we’re told he’s selling drugs, peddling drugs on the street corners here.”

Jemison has an extensive criminal history, doing whatever it takes to get by.

“He’s a drug dealer, stolen property, he has criminal history – habitual offender,” Garcia said.

Lajuan Jemison is 5’10” 160 pounds.

“He has a scar underneath his left eye,” Garcia said. “That’s easily identifiable.”

As a top priority for the U.S. Marshals- asking for your help as fears grow of what Jemison may do next.

“Who knows what this guys up to now?” Garcia said. “He’s staying with friends, drug dealers- this guy needs to go to jail.”

The Marshals are offering a reward for any information leading to the arrest of Lajuan Jemison.
