A Royal Oak family on board a cruise ship is praising the captain today after a scary night at sea.
Laura Varon Brown and her husband, Jeff, were on the Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas to celebrate their 25th anniversary when the ship hit a storm. They encountered massive waves from hurricane-force winds around 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Laura says people were scared at the time, but today she’s thankful to the captain for his heroic actions. She says the captain apologized to all on board, saying it was by far one of the worst storms in his career.
The ship is headed to Port Canaveral in Florida where it will be checked out for any structural damage before continuing on to the Bahamas.
