Dancing with the Stars returns next month. For Detroiters, we have two dancers to cheer own.
Former Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson trades in his cleats for dance shoes. Competing against him, singer and actress Jana Kramer, who grew up in Rochester Hills.
Nora Kramer, Jana Kramer's Mother, said, "I don't think she's done ballroom dancing but it will be fun."
Nora is thrilled her daughter will be on the widely popular dance show.
Jana grew up taking ballet lessons. Besides having some dance experience, Nora says her daughter has the drive to win.
"Hugely competitive so I think she is going to work really hard and do great," she explained. "Seen her pursue an acting career. I've seen her pursue her music career and she will jump in with both feet."
"I have a feeling she is pretty, pretty good."
Of course being an encouraging mom, this is what she told Jana.
"My words of advice to her have always been the same. Try the best you can. Put your best foot forward. Stay true to yourself and just have fun."
Just in case Jana trips and falls:
"If you fall, standup, dust yourself off get back out there and dance!"
The show kicks off Monday September 12 at 8 p.m. right here on Channel 7.
