"They had to be high or something," said LaToya Powels about the hit and run driver that crashed into her minivan Thursday evening. It was a deadly crash that killed her six-month-old baby boy and injured her three other children. But Detroit Police say it was Powels who was drunk and failed to properly restrain her children in her minivan.

Bond for Powels has been set at $2,000,000 cash or surety.

Powels was arrested Monday evening after police sources say relatives tried to help her elude officers.

State records show Powels hasn't had a valid driver's license in about 10 years. And after the crash, police reportedly found empty and unopened cans of beer in her minivan.

Police sources say Powels appeared sick from intoxication when she was arrested. She was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital where she was arraigned in her hospital bed Tuesday afternoon on multiple charges including Involuntary Manslaughter, Second Degree Child Abuse, and Operating While Intoxicated.

On Monday, the suspected hit and run driver, 31-year-old Deandre Cody, was arraigned on multiple charges including Failure to Stop at an Accident When at Fault Resulting in Death and Driving with License Suspended Causing Death.

Cody's bond was set at $500,000 cash/surety.
