This weekend, Midtown Detroit will light up with DLECTRICITY, where thousands are expected to walk, bike and explore an illuminated Woodward Corridor for the outdoor nighttime festival of art and light.

The festival will showcase the work of 36 international, national and local artists who have been commissioned to create installations of light, video, performance and other unexpected works of art.

DLECTRICITY will take place Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to midnight, from the Detroit Institute of Arts to the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit.

"In its third edition, DLECTRICITY will feature a variety of high-caliber works of art, showcasing Midtown Detroit as an international arts destination," said Sue Mosey, executive director of Midtown Detroit, Inc.

"We are appreciative of the generous support from foundations, cultural institutions and our partners to help make DLECTRICITY a world-class event and invite everyone to come experience it."

The event will feature artists from Australia, the United Kingdom, Japan and Germany, as well as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Portland, Baltimore and Cleveland.

"The DLECTRICITY artists this year are extraordinary and we are excited to bring this incredible event back to Midtown," said Marc Schwartz, DLECTRICITY chairman. "In many ways, the eyes of the contemporary art world are on Detroit at this moment."
