Ohio woman killed in semi crash on US-23 in Monroe County

Michigan State Police say one person was killed after a serious accident involving a semi on US-23 in Monroe County on Monday afternoon.

According to police, a middle-aged woman from Sylvania, Ohio was the person who died in the crash.

Police say a semi crashed into a vehicle as the driver was not paying attention.

The highway was closed for several hours as police investigated and Chopper 7 was over the scene shortly after showing multiple vehicles with serious damage.

2:15 p.m.

A serious accident involving a semi has closed southbound US-23 at exit 13, Ida West Rd. in Monroe County.

Chopper 7 was over the scene which showed multiple vehicles with serious damage as well as the semi.

The debris field for the accident was all over the road and into the grassy median.

Multiple emergency vehicles were on scene.

Right now, it's not clear what caused the crash or if there are any injuries.
