Get ready to see Steve Yzerman in a Red Wings uniform one more time.
Detroit's longtime captain has confirmed he will play in the Stadium Series Alumni Game, a source told WXYZ. The source wished to remain anonymous.
Yzerman was on an original list of former players mentioned by Kris Draper in September, but was left off a list released by the NHL earlier this month.
"He was always going to play," the source said.
Joining Yzerman is Darren McCarty, a man central to the rivalry.
McCarty had previously told WXYZ he would be suiting up to face the Avalanche alumni, and the league will announce his involvement soon.
The Red Wings face the Avalanche outdoors at Coors Field for the NHL's Stadium Series on Saturday, February 27. The Alumni will square off the night before, on February 26.
