(WXYZ) — The forecast looks even hotter for Memorial Day Weekend. We'll be close to record highs Sunday and Monday.
Sunday's record high is 87° (2007), and Monday's record high is 90° (2012). The hottest Memorial Day in Metro Detroit was also in 2012, when we reached 95° on May 28th.
Dew point temperatures will climb into the mid 60s, which means the humidity will also climb, and we'll have the chance of rain and a few thunderstorms both Sunday and Memorial Day. Both days don't look like they will be "wash-outs", but occasional rain and thunder is in the forecast.
We're going to stay hot and humid through the final week of May.
